Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly – Young Adult (2018)
Indie Folk, Indie Pop, Singer-Songwriter | WEB FLAC (tracks) & front cover | 224 MB
Label: Xtra Mile Recordings | Tracks: 10 | Time: 34:56 min
The solo project of Sam Duckworth, Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly, entered the musical hemisphere all the way back in 2006 with debut The Chronicles Of A Bohemian Teenager. Delicately formed and honestly played out, it merged together elements of folk, indie, and a political narrative.
Staunch in his liberal left-wing views, politics and the latter were woven into the self-titled LP, ‘Maps’ and the most recent album ‘London Royal’ (2014). Lyrically discussing commentary around austerity, the economic crisis, and the issues of a biased media.
After a hiatus and explorations under Duckworth’s own name and the Recreations moniker, Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly is back with its seventh studio album. ‘Young Adult’ features 10 politically charged indie-pop songs, and includes collaboration with Shy FX entitled ‘Always’.
Gesualdo Consort Amsterdam, Cristofori & Arthur Schoonderwoerd – Missa da Requiem (2018)

Much is known about the special and particular circumstances surrounding the composition of Mozart’s Requiem. 1791 was a tumultuous year, and before Mozart’s life was cut short at the start of December he had composed, among other works, Die Zauberflte, La Clemenza di Tito, the Clarinet Concerto and evidently this Requiem, although it was left in an unfinished state. Arthur Schoonderwoerd presents this work as a complete Missa da Requiem in its liturgical context, with Gregorian chant, and adds a newly composed Amen by Schoonderwoerd himself and a Libera me by Ritter Ignaz von Seyfried (both world premiere recordings). The starting point of this recording is the performance of a Requiem Mass as it would have sounded in Vienna around 1800 i.e. in a scoring which Mozart could possibly have visualised. The vocal part is sung by the soloists of the Gesualdo Consort Amsterdam, well-known for their recordings of the complete vocal music of J. P. Sweelinck.
George Cotsirilos – Mostly in Blue (2018)
WEB FLAC (Tracks) – 327 MB | Cover | MP3 CBR 320 kbps – 113 MB | 00:49:02
Jazz | Label: OA2 Records
Jazz guitarist/composer George Cotsirilos had previously recorded mostly in a trio setting with longtime associates Robb Fisher on bass and Ron Marabuto on drums. For his forthcoming sixth CD, Mostly in Blue, he expanded to a quartet, with pianist Keith Saunders, to shake up his approach a bit but also in the interests of being true to the music he was hearing in his head. OA2 Records will release the new album Mostly in Blue.
In addition to six Cotsirilos originals, the repertoire includes a luminous arrangement of the Harry Warren-Mack Gordon classic I Wish I Knew, where Saunders’s presence liberates the stylistically wide-ranging guitarist to play legato more than he usually does. Another highlight is a feverishly fast performance of the Charlie Parker classic Crazeology.
The band worked as their own producers in collaboration with engineer Dave Luke, a decorated veteran of Fantasy Records with whom Cotsirilos had worked several times. We wanted the album to have a live feel, says Cotsirilos, and this live-in-studio sound can be heard as much in the playing as in the engineering, whether on Bird’s bebop burner or the guitarist’s slinky Ms. Luna, written for his troublemaking cat.

Ruins is the new and eagerly awaited album from Swedish sister duo First Aid Kit. This new album finds First Aid Kit as you’ve never heard them before: wounded and biting back hard. While Ruins follows the traditions of the classic folk rock sound that First Aid Kit revived via their breakthrough album Stay Gold (2014) and previous releases The Big Black And The Blue (2010) and The Lion’s Roar (2012), the difference is that this time they’ve lived, and the results are intense.
Tracks such as Rebel Heart the album’s opener documents a love doomed from the start. It’s A Shame the lead single is a plea to live in the moment because everyone disposes of each other eventually. On Postcard and To Live A Life, you feel the breath-stealing weight of despair when a shattered love leaves you bereft of hope. Fireworks introverts the blame with self-loathing.
In many ways, First Aid Kit’s largest asset is their biggest problem. Their voices are so damn pretty. The [previous] records were always so perfect, says Johanna Sderberg. On Ruins, the duo didn’t want it to feel perfect. They wanted it to feel rough and wrenching. Johanna comments further, Given the material, the lyrics had to be the focus. These sentiments didn’t need to be dressed up. They needed to be naked.
Ruins was made with one target in mind: make it sound more real a result the Sderberg sisters clearly achieved.

Label: Gramola Records
The beautiful old Austrian German and Yiddish and the natural mixing of the two languages in everyday life on many streets and quarters of the erstwhile imperial capital city of Vienna was the origin of an unmatched abundance of cultural goods, which suffered a sudden disruption through the Nazi terror regime. Out of Sight, the upcoming album of Viennese soprano Ethel Merhaut is dedicated to discovering long forgotten Viennese songs by Jewish composers (Egon Neumann, Fritz Spielmann, Walter Jurmann, Hermann Leopoldi) and evergreens of Yiddish popular music in the United States, disclosing the close ties between these genres. Internationally acclaimed musicians like Bela Koreny, piano, Julian Rachlin, Roby and Robert Lakatos, violins, Sarah McElravy, viola, Boris Adrianov, cello, Andreas Ottensamer, clarinet and Herwig Gradischnig, saxophone provide for unforgettable moments rife of emotion and musical enthusiasm.
Ensemble Dulcis Melodia & Jean Francois Haberer – Les Musiciens de Leopold (2018)
Classical, Vocal | WEB FLAC (tracks) & d. booklet | 284 MB
Label: Pan Classics | Tracks: 18 | Time: 57:02 min
As part of their work focusing on enhancing the baroque music of the Rhineland, Dulcis Melodia presents an original program that reveals for the first time one of the most prestigious chapters of the baroque art in this area: Saverne at the time of the Archduke Leopold of Austria.
The bishop of Strasbourg was a committed defender of the Alsatian musical life and contributed to galvanize it. Indeed, between 1615 and 1625, he invited three brilliant composers of the Court of Austria, Vincenz Jelich, Bernardin Wolck and Reimundo Ballestra, to Saverne. Those three musicians fit in perfectly with the artistic trend of that time when Italy was on top of the musical life.
Edoardo Torbianelli – Chopin Late Piano Works (2018)
Classical | WEB FLAC (tracks) & d. booklet | 254 MB
Label: Glossa | Tracks: 13 | Time: 74:42 min
In Chopin Late piano works Edoardo Torbianelli matches once again the poetry of his pianism with the rigour of his scholarly investigations into the music he plays. Together with the booklet essaywriter, Jeanne Roudet, Torbianelli has considered afresh the music written by Frdric Chopin in the last fifteen years of the Polish composer’s life. To follow on from his Pian e forte collection, Torbianelli has recorded at Fondation Royaumont in France playing on an 1842 Ignace Pleyel grand piano Chopin’s A flat Polonaise-Fantaisie, Op 61, the B minor Sonata Op. 58 and a selection of Mazurkas and Nocturnes for this new Schola Cantorum Basiliensis release presented by Glossa. With this programme Edoardo Torbianelli is situating the compositional approach more directly within Chopin’s Polish heritage; though he later went into exile the composer was present in Warsaw until just before the November Uprising in 1830. Unlike Berlioz and Liszt, it is argued, Chopin eschewed literature as direct inspiration and again unlike Liszt the Polish composer’s piano music shares similarities in technique and performative style with the bel canto school of singing, the descendant of the art of eighteenth-century castrati and perpetuated in the 1800s by Italian singers as heard by Chopin himself in Paris. The resulting vocality of Chopin’s piano music finds echo in Edoardo Torbianelli’s interpretations for a recording which can be considered both for its fresh approach but also as a masterly reflection of the composer’s genius.
Edgar Steinitz – Roots Unknown (2018)
WEB FLAC (Tracks) – 273 MB | Cover | MP3 CBR 320 kbps – 105 MB | 00:45:40
Jazz | Label: OA2 Records
With an artistic hand lent by legendary bassist David Friesen, clarinetist Edgar Steinitz presents a soulful debut recording. Honoring his heritage, Steinitz taps into a deep spirituality inspired by the joyous melodies of traditional Ashkenazi and Sephardic Jewish musics, offering originals and improvisations in their spirit. Besides Friesen on bass, Roots Unknown features an ensemble of accordian, violin, and percussion along with master improvisor, trumpeter and saxophonist Jay Thomas. Combining the refined musical tastes of the Northern European Ashkenazi, and the strong Afro-Latin influences from the Northern African and South American Sephardic communities, Steinitz discovers a rich and significant musical landscape to explore.
