Skinhead History, Identity, and Culture

Skinhead History, Identity, and Culture

Skinhead History, Identity, and Culture
Routledge | English | 2018 | ISBN-10: 1138202118 | 162 pages | PDF | 1.14 mb
by Kevin Borgeson (Author), Robin Valeri (Author)
Skinheads go beyond the societal stereotype of hate mongers, bigots, and Neo-Nazis. The community of skins also includes traditional skins (those that adhere to the original philosophy of the British movement in 1969), Skinheads Against Racial prejudice (SHARPS), and gay skins, female skins and Neo-Nazi or Racist/Nationalist skins. Skinhead History, Identity, and Culture covers the history, identity, and culture of the skinhead movement in Europe and America, looking at the total culture of the skins through a cross-sectional analysis of skinheads in various countries.
Authors Borgeson and Valeri provide original research data to cast new light into the skinhead community. Some of the data is ethnographic, drawing on face-to-face interviews with skins of all kinds, while other data is compiled from the Internet and social media about various skinhead groups within the United States, Europe, and Australia. The book covers the history of the subculture; explores the unique cultures of female, gay, and Neo-Nazi skins; and explores manifestations of the culture as represented on the Internet and in music. The work discusses how skinheads derive their values and morals and how they fit into the larger social structure.

Genre: eLearning | Language: English
Learn how to build a single-page application from start to finish with ASP.NET Web API 2, Entity Framework and jQuery.
Single-page applications are the way to go if you want to build state-of-the-art web applications. But if you look around, there are so many big frameworks out there that just seem to take ages to learn. Guess what, you don’t need a framework like Angular to build single-page apps. Plain JavaScript and jQuery do the trick and more importantly, you have to build a fast and reliable back end. And that’s what you will learn in this course.
The single-page app you will build in this course is a shopping list application that uses every CRUD operation with HTTP requests, calling a RESTful web service – using ASP.NET Web API 2 – which saves your data persistently in a SQL Server database.
Make yourself ready to learn some jQuery, HTML and CSS for the front end. And for the back end you will use Microsoft’s ASP.NET Web API 2 for the RESTful web service and Entity Framework with Code First Migrations to communicate with the database.
On top of that you will learn how to publish your single-page app to Internet Information Services (IIS) so that everyone can access your new single-page application.
Patrick, the author of this course, has built several web applications professionally as freelancer and employee and over the years he learned many things that you just don’t have to do to succeed in building a single-page application. This course will save you time, because you will learn the crucial and most important parts quick, so that you can get your single-page app out there in no time!
Sound’s good Let’s get started!

Simulation in Healthcare Education ~ An Extensive History [Repost]

Simulation in Healthcare Education: An Extensive History [Repost]

Simulation in Healthcare Education: An Extensive History by Harry Owen
English | 17 Mar. 2016 | ISBN: 331926575X | 456 Pages | PDF | 38.23 MB
Simulation in healthcare education has a long history, yet in many ways, we have been reinventing the wheel during the last 25 years. Historically, simulators have been much more than simple models, and we can still learn from aspects of simulation used hundreds of years ago. This book gives a narrative history of the development of simulators from the early 1700s to the middle of the 20th century when simulation in healthcare appeared to all but die out. It is organized around the development of simulation in different countries and includes at the end a guide to simulators in museums and private collections throughout the world. The aim is to increase understanding of simulation in the professional education of healthcare providers by exploring the historical context of simulators that were developed in the past, what they looked like, how they were used, and examples of simulator use that led to significant harm and an erosion of standards. The book is addressed to the healthcare simulation community and historians of medicine. The latter in particular will appreciate the identification and use of historic sources written in Latin, German, Italian, French, Polish and Spanish as well as English.
