How to Improve Your Marriage Without Talking About It

How to Improve Your Marriage Without Talking About It
Language: English | EPUB | ISBN-10: 0767923189 | 2008 | 240 pages | 1 MB

Men are right. The "relationship talk" does not help. Dr. Patricia Love’s and Dr. Steven Stosny’s How to Improve Your Marriage Without Talking About It reveals the stunning truth about marital happiness: Love is not about better communication. It’s about connection. You’ll never get a closer relationship
with your man by talking to him like you
talk to one of your girlfriends.

Male emotions are like women’s sexuality:
you can’t be too direct too quickly.

There are four ways to connect with a man:touch, activity, sex, routines.

Men want closer marriages just as much as women do,but not if they has to act like a woman.

Talking makes women move closer;
it makes men move away.

The secret of the silent male is this:
his wife supplies the meaning in his life.

The stunning truth about love is that talking doesn’t help.

Have you ever had this conversation with your spouse?

Wife: "Honey, we need to talk about us."
Husband: "Do we have to?"

Drs. Patricia Love and Steven Stosny have studied this all-too-familiar dynamic between men and women and have reached a truly shocking conclusion. Even with the best of intentions, talking about your relationship doesn’t bring you together, and it will eventually drive you apart.

The reason for this is that underneath most couples’ fights, there is a biological difference at work. A woman’s vulnerability to fear and anxiety makes her draw closer, while a man’s subtle sensitivity to shame makes him pull away in response. This is why so many married couples fall into the archetypal roles of nagging wife/stonewalling husband, and why improving a marriage can’t happen through words.

How to Improve Your Marriage Without Talking About It teaches couples how to get closer in ways that don’t require "trying to turn a man into a woman." Rich in stories of couples who have turned their marriages around, and full of practical advice about the behaviors that make and break marriages, this essential guide will help couples find love beyond words.

How to Be a Good Atheist

How to Be a Good Atheist by Nick Harding
English | Apr. 28, 2008 | ISBN: 1842432370 | 163 Pages | PDF | 1 MB

For millennia priests and holy men have told countless conflicting tales about humanity’s genesis and fate, while also saying anyone devoid of faith is evil, immoral, and responsible for societal ills. For those tired of these contradictions, fed up with hearing about divine mysteries when there aren’t any, and offended by being told they’re going to hell, atheism is a popular and logical answer. This book contains all you need to know about what to pack for your journey on the enlightening road to atheism, including explanations of the five types of atheism and the difference between an atheist and an agnostic-a term invented by T. H. Huxley, famous for his defense of Darwin-as well as how a deist differs from a theist. Learn why Christians were originally called atheists; read about Lucretius and his fellow materialists; and revel alongside atheists who happily have nothing to defend.

How the Maya Built Their World Energetics and Ancient Architecture

How the Maya Built Their World: Energetics and Ancient Architecture
University of Texas Press | 1994 | ISBN: 0292704615, 0292704623 | English | 194 pages | PDF | 24.7 MB

Maya architecture is often described as "massive" and "monumental," but experiments at Copan, Honduras, convinced Elliot Abrams that 300 people could have built one of the large palaces there in only 100 days. In this groundbreaking work, Abrams explicates his theory of architectural energetics, which involves translating structures into volumes of raw and manufactured materials that are then multiplied by the time required for their production and assembly to determine the labor costs of past construction efforts. Applying this method to residential structures of the Late Classic period (A.D. 700-900) at Copan leads Abrams to posit a six-tiered hierarchic social structure of political decision making, ranging from a stratified elite to low-ranking commoners. By comparing the labor costs of construction and other economic activities, he also prompts a reconsideration of the effects of royal construction demands on commoners.

How Performance Management Is Killing Performance-and What to Do About It

How Performance Management Is Killing Performance-and What to Do About It
M. Tamra Chandler, ""
English | ISBN: 1626566771 | 2016 | PDF | 256 pages | 3 MB

Rethink, Redesign, Reboot.

Most people associate performance management with the annual review, which is universally dreaded by employees, management, and HR professionals alike. It’s a cookie-cutter, fear-based, top-down approach that emphasizes negatives over positives and stifles healthy career conversations. It’s never been shown to motivate anyone to do anything but try to avoid it, but nobody feels like they have any alternative. Tamra Chandler has one-and it works.Actually, Chandler doesn’t offer a single alternative-she offers an infinite number of them. Each organization that uses her Performance Management Reboot is able to develop its own unique version since it doesn’t make a lot of sense for organizations with different cultures, in different industries and sectors, to do things exactly the same way. Grounded in the latest scientific findings about motivation, it’s a transparent, employee-driven process that values collaboration over competition and rewards people for acquiring new skills and increasing their contribution instead of hitting arbitrary benchmarks.Chandler lays out the general principles and then walks you through each step in creating a performance management process that employees will actually embrace rather than avoid and that will help you meet the three objectives of great performance management: developing your people, rewarding them equitably, and driving your organization’s performance. It’s the first comprehensive, step-by-step guide to creating a performance management solution that’s tailored to your organization’s needs and goals and that places the emphasis squarely on your greatest asset: your people.

How Marriage Became One of the Sacraments The Sacramental Theology of Marriage

How Marriage Became One of the Sacraments :
The Sacramental Theology of Marriage from its Medieval Origins to the Council of Trent

by Philip L. Reynolds
English | 2016 | 1107146151 | 1082 Pages | PDF | 6,77 MB

Among the contributions of the medieval church to western culture was the idea that marriage was one of the seven sacraments, which defined the role of married folk in the church. Although it had ancient roots, this new way of regarding marriage raised many problems, to which scholastic theologians applied all their ingenuity. By the late Middle Ages, the doctrine was fully established in Christian thought and practice but not yet as dogma. In the sixteenth century, with the entire Catholic teaching on marriage and celibacy and its associated law and jurisdiction under attack by the Protestant reformers, the Council of Trent defined the doctrine as a dogma of faith for the first time but made major changes to it. Rather than focusing on a particular aspect of intellectual and institutional developments, this book examines them in depth and in detail from their ancient precedents to the Council of Trent.
